Jimmie Wayne Kyle

The spirit of Jimmie Wayne Kyle, 88, passed beyond our sight on February 7, 2013. He was the fifth child born on July 15, 1924 to Lee Roy Kyle and Dovie Hoffman Kyle. They lived on the Vida M. Way oil lease near the small town of Oilton, OK where his Dad was employed with Magnolia Petroleum Company. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. In 1943, he met and married Mary Louise Heiling of Victoria, TX. Jim and Mary had two daughters; Marilyn Ann and Cheryl Jean. Ironically in 1945 Jim joined that same company as his Dad, working in the production department then as a Safety Specialist. He retired after 37 years with Mobil Oil Company, later known as ExxonMobil, working at their refinery located in Beaumont, TX.
After his retirement in 1982, he enjoyed perfecting his golf game and gardening….he loved anything from food to flowers, especially roses. He and his wife, Mary, were married for sixty-four years. In February of 2012 Jimmie relocated to Norman, OK, coming full circle to his birth state. He was an avid reader and worked the daily crossword puzzles with enthusiasm. Musically he was drawn to gospel but basically loved all music. It amazed his family that he could just jot down poetry seemingly without much effort. He was a member Emeritus of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Legion, the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cheryl; parents, Lee and Dovie Kyle; sister, Lora; three brothers, Carl, Earnest and Lester. Jim is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Adams of Houston, TX; brother, Charles Kyle of Mt. Pleasant, TX; sisters, Jo Ann Kyle Ehlert of Victoria, TX and Patricia Kyle Osburn of Norman, OK and many nieces and nephews whom he loved and whom loved him.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on February 14, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, TX with a graveside service following the visitation at Haven of Rest Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrance may be sent to the Southwest Indian Foundation, PO Box 86, Gallup, NM 87301-001 Navajo Reservation or to the charity of your choice.
