Jimmie Dauris Johnson Ridenhour

Jimmie Dauris Johnson Ridenhour, 92, of Beaumont, died June 16, 2011 at her residence in Beaumont, TX.
She was born in Dorsey, Mississippi, May 21, 1919. Her family moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1926 where she graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1937. She married Lovic Wesley Ridenhour in 1938 and was a faithful Christian homemaker her entire life. They moved to Bynum, Alabama in 1944 where her husband worked for Anniston Army Depot until his retirement in 1975. After retirement she and her husband of 73 years traveled with Campers on Mission, a Southern Baptist group that built churches in mission areas throughout the United States. They taught Bible studies to adults and worked in a unique telephone Bible class for homebound adults. In 1996 they moved to Beaumont, TX and for the last eight years she was a resident of Atria Collier Park, Calder Woods, and Sabine Oaks retirement homes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Beaumont, where she was active in ministry to the home bound and in the Senior Adult choir before her recent illnesses.
She is survived by her husband, Lovic, son Wes and his wife Sandra, all of Beaumont, daughter Ann Garcia and her husband Bob of Fountain Valley, CA, daughter Jane Jajko and husband Dean of Riverside, NJ, six grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Dauris was preceded in death by her parents Dealer and Nolia Johnson of Laguna Beach, Florida, brothers Murrell Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Charles Johnson of Gardendale, Alabama, and Elmo Johnson of Cullman, AL, and one grandson, Joey Gregg of Big Spring, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on June 20, 2011 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins on 1155 N. 11th Street, Beaumont, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be on June 20, at 10:00 AM until time of service.
