Born in Orange, Texas, on December 11, 1955, he was the son of Jimmy E. Burnitt and Doris Marie (Kidd) Burnitt. Jimmy lived a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication to both his career and his passions. He was an esteemed Attorney for the District Attorney's Office and later retiring from the Office of the Attorney General - Child Support. Jimmy's heart belonged to music. He grew up in a musical family that cultivated his talent and passion for playing the bass guitar. Whether he was strumming at church or delighting friends and family, his love for music resonated deeply within him. If anyone wanted to play or sing, it was guaranteed that Jimmy would be right there, encouraging them with his warm smile. Jimmy’s home was a sanctuary overlooking the waters of the Sabine River, where he cherished quiet moments with his loyal dog, Buddy. He also loved fishing and boat riding, which allowed him to reconnect with the outdoors while enjoying time spent with family and friends. Family gatherings brought him immense joy, highlighting his deep love for those closest to him. Jimmy proudly proclaimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, impacting not only his personal journey but also those privileged to know him. Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and an unwavering love for family, friends, and music.

I will miss Jimmy at work playing Christmas music in July. You and Nettie were the only one's at the Attorney General's Office to call me by my first and middle name. Rest In peace.

jimmy was one of the bravest men I've ever known. We "reconnected" this past spring and was so looking forward to him handling all the music for our 50th LCM reunion. I know he will be singing and playing in Heaven and probably is right now! He was smart, kind, and always willing to "help" others. You will be missed Jimmy...
