Jimmy Rex Griffin, 75, of Orange passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Harbor Hospice Home in Beaumont.
Rex was a retired instrumentation technician from Firestone for 38 years. He was a man of strong morals and thoughtful. He will be remembered as a generous giving person. A good work ethic and financial wisdom were some of his best traits. He was known as a good dancer, loved baseball, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandkids, and friends. Getaway weekends at Cow Creek, Crystal Beach, and family vacations were some of his most enjoyable memories. He was a die-hard fan of the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys. He graduated with the class of 1962 at Stark High School, graduated at Lamar College, and served in the US Army Reserves.
Born in Orange, TX on August 19, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Belle Griffin and sister Linda Windham. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Griffin; sons Jason Griffin and wife Catherine of Porter, TX; Denny Griffin of Orange; daughter Casey Canizaro and husband Jay of Spring, TX; brothers Don and Jerry Griffin both of Orange; grandchildren Kayla Griffin, Nicole Jones, Kristin Griffin, CJ Lichenstein, Cameron Canizaro, Carter Canizaro; five great grandsons, and many lifetime friends.
Funeral visitation will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange Friday, January 31 at 11:00am with a memorial service to follow at 1:00pm. Rob Tibbetts will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Vic Slack, Bob Case, Roger Monarch, Todd Windham, Kane Windham, Ryan Harrison, and CJ Lichenstein. Honorary pallbearers are Carroll Durio, Joe Brown, and Alec Scott.
