Jimmy Don Stevens, a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2023, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Jimmy Don was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Orange, the son of Cecile (Ratcliff) Stevens and Billy Stevens.
Jimmy Don was a skilled electrician and a master scuba diver. He had a witty sense of humor that was always sure to draw the best laughter at any gathering. He was always willing to lend a hand when family or friends needed him. He was a Fightin’ Texas Aggie, and he cheered his Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys ever since they were founded.
Preceding Jimmy Don in death are his parents and his stepmother, Ruth Stevens; his sister, Delores Eileen (Stevens) Magness, his niece Cynthia Marie Magness, and his great-niece, Casey Marie Magness.
Left to honor his memory are his sister, Vada Lou Burnett and husband, Wesley, and brothers, Ross Stevens and wife, Penny, and Billy Ray Stevens and wife, Mary Jane, all of Singer, La.; nephews Gregory Magness of Austin, John (Robbie) Magness and wife, Wendy, of Westlake, La., and Cade Burnett and wife, Meagan, of Iowa, La., and nieces Amy Magness, of Houston, and Jaycee Swain, of Baton Rouge; his great-nephews, John Timothy (Mira) Magness and wife, Jasmine, Derian Magness, and Braden Magness, all of Westlake, La., Jacob Inman and Alec Melton, of Houston, and Cassidy Burnett, of Iowa, La.; his great-great nieces, Taryn and Mati Langston, and great-great nephew, Jackson Magness, all of Westlake, La.; and special longtime friends Carolyn and Jerry Penick, of Orange.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home of Orange, Texas. Per Jimmy Don’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to a charity of choice.
