Born in Beaumont, Texas, on March 18, 1955, she was the daughter of Jon R. Cloy and Ruby Lois Booker Gilchriest. Jo was a remarkable individual whose presence touched the lives of many. She was known for her unwavering dedication to serving as a nurse at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her profession, as she was a devoted mother and Maw Maw who cherished her family above all else. Jo found joy in the simple moments of life, whether it was scouring antique shops, exploring garage sales, creating beautiful pieces through sewing, or whipping up delicious dishes in the kitchen. As the matriarch of her family, Jo's love and guidance touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, always ready to offer support and kindness. Jo's faith was an integral part of her life, having been a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church. In addition to her professional and familial roles, Jo was also a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. She found immense strength in her journey to sobriety and was an inspiration to many through her perseverance and courage. Jo Cindy Cloy will be deeply missed by her family and friends. While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable soul, we also celebrate the legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that she leaves behind. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jon Cloy and Ruby Booker Gilchriest; her brother, Clint Cloy; and her fur babies, Sophie, Pia, and Pinky.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Lea Johnson and husband, Eddie of Mauriceville; her grandchildren, Cole Johnson and Brice Johnson; her siblings, Jon Kelsey Cloy and wife, Gayle, Marianna Theriot and husband, Glenn, Jenny Kay, and Carrie Sanders; her beloved roommate and late in life best friend, Doris Haines; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karlee Miller at Altus Hospice, and to Focused Care in Orange for their unwavering support and compassion.
