JoAnn Austin

June 13, 1938 — December 27, 2007

Funeral services for JoAnn Austin will be held on Monday, December 31, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Sour Lake at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Johnny Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Austin was born on June 13, 1938 to Robert and Gussie Burlin in Bryan, TX and passed away on December 27, 2007 at Christus-St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX.
She was a lifelong resident of Sour Lake and was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Sour Lake, where she served over 20 years as a Sunday School teacher and vacation bible school teacher. She also served over 23 years as a 5th grade teacher?s aide in the Sour Lake I.S.D.
Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Austin, her parents, and brothers, Wallace and Robert Burlin. She is survived by her son, Paul Austin of Groves, her daughter, Nancy Williamson of Sour Lake, grandchildren, Katy and James Austin, sisters, Hazel Wallace of Gladewater, Emily Magliolo of Beaumont and Liz Burlin of Baytown, and brother Charles Burlin.
