JoAnn Pace

JoAnn Pace, 80, of Little Cypress, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Clayton Oaks in Richmond, Texas.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will Father Sinclair Oubre. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation with the family will begin prior to the service at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 21, 1944, she was the daughter of Joseph Dierdonne Dumatrait and Lucia Inez (Borel) Dumatrait. JoAnn dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, and nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren. JoAnn and her husband Raymond were founding members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she played an active role for many years. She taught religious education (CCD) for over two decades, sharing her faith and love for the church with many young minds. In addition to her teaching, she was a Lay Dominican, served on the Parish Council, and was a valued member of The Altar Society. JoAnn also volunteered at CYO, contributing her time and energy to the community and the church she loved dearly. Her warm personality drew people in; JoAnn enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends, frequently going walking together. She had a deep appreciation for music, especially the tunes of Elvis, and often found joy in reading and studying the Bible. Gardening was another passion of hers, which she relished in, finding peace and happiness among her plants. JoAnn’s love for her family was immeasurable, and she made many beautiful memories with her grandchildren, whom she treasured above all. Her legacy of kindness and dedication to her faith and family will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Inez Dumatrait; husband, Wesley Raymond Pace; sisters, Joyce Moore, Lois Patronella, Shirley Fontenot; and brother, Gene Dumatrait.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda McNamara and husband Frank, Ronda Austin and husband Dennis; son, Joseph R. Pace and wife Lori; grandchildren, Marcus McNamara and wife Chelsea, Matthew McNamara, Jenna McNamara, Elyse Byrnes and husband Austin; sister, Linda Johnson and husband Leonard; sister-in-law, Kay Lloyd; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.

JoAnn was the sweetest, kindest person I have ever met. My daughters grew up with her children and got closer as friends through 4-H. JoAnn always had a smile for everyone. My deepest condolences to the entire family.

Linda and Leonard, sorry to hear about Jo Ann',s death, hope this is finding ya'll in good health...I loved all of Mother's sisters and Uncle Gene and remember all the fun we had at Christmas parties , Baby showers, etc. When we were growing up...I think she is where she wants to be now...back with Uncle Raymond forever...Love and good health to you both
