Mr. Joel Bonner Thompson, 86, of Lumberton, Texas passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at his home. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home Beaumont with a graveside service on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 2:00p.m.at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Thompson; son, Gary Thompson; daughter, Sandra Thompson and his brother, Gerald Medford Thompson.
He is survived by his “loving” companion, Marie Stroupe; daughters, Sheryl Wiggins and her husband, Wayne of Orange, TX, Karen Bruce of Splendora, TX, and Judy Collins and her husband, Kevin of Lumberton, TX and grandchildren, Joel Wiggins, Ashley Davison and husband, Dan, Jenna Bruce, Christa Tumlinson, Garrett Tumlinson, Tracy Thompson and Jaime Thompson; several great-grandchildren and two cousins, Faye May and Claudia Thompson both of Fort Worth, TX.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of South Park High School and served in U.S. Army. He retired from Gulf States Utilities as a line foreman. Mr. Thompson was known as a good solid family man who taught his family by example. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
