John “Wayne” Baker
John “Wayne” Baker, 87, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2023, at his home.
A memorial service for John “Wayne” Baker will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 9th and Elm Church of Christ in Orange.
Born in Munester, Texas, on February 4, 1936, he was the son of Ambrose Wesley Baker and Marcela Lorene (Davidson) Baker. John was a respected elder at 9th and Elm Church of Christ. He was employed as the general manager at Austin-Lee for 30 years. John loved his family dearly and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Marcela Baker; step-father, Gene Payne; daughter, Paula Jean Cox; and his siblings, Houston Baker, Ann Loftin and husband, Bud Loftin, Ray Baker, Larry Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years and high school sweetheart, Carla Joy Baker; daughters, Valarie Baker Teague of Orange, Brenda Joy Gray and husband, Thomas of Destin, Florida, and Amy Henry and husband, Jimmy of Orange; grandchildren, Wesley Lovelace and wife, Shay, Ericka Williams and husband, Chris, Randi Hensley and husband, Heath, David Wayne Teague and wife, Brittney, Jeana Jeanise and husband, Stephen, Tyler Teague and wife, Ana, Jordan Cox, Taylor Jones and husband, Dustin, Brandon Landry and wife, Shelley, and Ashton Landry; sister-in-law, June Baker, 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his brother, Gary Baker of Oklahoma; nieces, Pam Baker, and Cindy Loftin; and nephew, Houston Baker, Jr.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rudy Pachuca of Orange, James Cox of Marquee, Texas; and Brandon Landry of Orange.
