John (JR) Broussard, 86, was born in Abbeville, LA to Nolen and Ozite Seaux Broussard and passed away in Pt. Arthur, TX November 16, 2013. He was a long-time resident of the community since 1965. He was employed in Public Relations/Sales with Acme Trucking Company prior to his retirement. He served during WWII with the US Army Corps of Engineers until his separation in 1947.
Mr. Broussard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys; his daughter, Beth Hanks and husband Don; grandchildren, Carrie Richard and husband Shane, and John Hathaway and Cory Turlington; his great-grandson, Austin Hathaway and his great-granddaughter, Kaci Hathaway and his brothers, Raywood and Daniel Broussard. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Phillips, his parents, his brothers, Lloyd and Mark and his sister, Ramona.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 – 6:00 PM, Monday, November 18 at Claybar Funeral Home, Bridge City. A rosary will begin at 6:00 PM with visitation to continue until 8:00 PM afterwards. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19 at the funeral home with interment to follow immediately at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pt. Arthur, TX.
