Born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 26, 1953, he was the son of Albert C. Granger and Winnie (Slade) Granger. John, known for his dedication and hard work in his career as a union ironworker, served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. In addition to his successful career and military service, John had a zest for life that was infectious to those around him. His love was evident to all who knew him. John often found joy in the simple pleasure of eating breakfast at K-Dan's every morning as well as traveling around his community several times a day checking on his neighbors. Many people often teasingly called him the unofficial “Mayor of Orangefield.” John also loved to entertain at his shop and would often host a large fish fry or barbecues with his friends and family. Additionally, he took pride in taking care of his lawn making sure it was in excellent condition and also enjoyed just riding on his tractors. Outside of work, he had a passion for motorcycles that brought him joy and a sense of freedom. In honoring John Clinton Granger's memory, let us remember not only the work he accomplished and the passions he pursued but also the kindness and warmth he shared with those around him and his willingness to always help anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Winnie Granger; brothers, Joe W. Granger, Charles A. Rearick, and Thomas Rearick.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Granger; nieces, Jennifer Rearick Felkel and husband Kevin Felkel and their children, Ashton Felkel and Ryan Felkel; Laura Chapa and husband Rick Chapa and their children, Josh and Charles Mason; Jovon Martinez and husband Junior Martinez and their children, Ceara, Mark, Muguel, and Ashley Robles; half-sister, Nancy Rearick Kirkbride and her husband David Kirkbride; as well as other loving family and friends.
