John Albert Ognoskie was born on July 25, 1964, to Daniel and Lorene (Warnasch) Ognoskie in Orange, Texas. He graduated from West Orange High School in 1982. John was a Union Journeyman carpenter. He married Elizabeth Fitzgerald June 16, 1998, and they divorced in 2003. John was a member of the Local Union 551 and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed grilling and cooking. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Groves and served on the Board of Trustees since 1982. John was also a faithful usher at the church. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
On Friday, October 4, 2019, he fell asleep in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 55 years, 2 months, and 9 days, to await the resurrection of the body on the Last Day.
He is survived by his two brothers, Reverend Daniel (Judy) Ognoskie of Wilton, Iowa, Paul Ognoskie of Orange; step son Anthony (Lexie) Reeves of Killen, Texas; granddaughter, Harper Reeves; nieces, Michelle Ognoskie of Wilton, Iowa, Katie Ognoskie of Coal City, Illinois, Dana (Joshua) Mericle of LaPorte, Texas; great nephew Aneaus Caylor of Commerce City, Colorado; great nieces, Kaylee and Kailen Mericle of LaPorte; uncle Leroy (Martha) Warnasch of Cypress, Texas, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lorene Ognoskie; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Donald Restelle.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Groves. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Orange.
