John Richard Wilcox, 72, of Branson, MO, died February 28, 2008, at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Orange.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend Michael Cline of First United Methodist Church in Troup, TX, will officiate. Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston.
John was born February 9, 1936, in Strathmore, CA, to John Wesley and Eunice Byrd Wilcox.
John retired from the US Army. During his career he was awarded the good conduct medal four times; the Army Commendation Medal, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Korea and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
John loved spending time with his family, going to parks and having picnics and going to shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice Wilcox.
He is survived by his wife, Merle Wilcox, children, Donna Marshall and husband John of Orange, Sharon Cline and husband Michael of Troup, Richard Wilcox and wife Pam of El Paso and Karen Callahan of Conroe; grandchildren, Daniel, Kyle, Sarah, Christina, Elizabeth, Justin, Nicholas, Jacob, Christian, Kimberly, Cody, Amanda and Evan; and sister, Carol Hatch of Tustin, CA.
