Johnnie Melvin "Skipper" Linder, Jr.

Johnnie Melvin “Skipper” Linder, Jr., 74, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on April 20, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Charles “Butch” Thurman. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on October 28, 1942, he was the son of Johnnie and Floy Linder. Skipper retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after many years as an operator. He was a family man who enjoyed watching football and reading. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Floy Linder.

Skipper is survived by his loving wife, Verna S. Linder; children, Karen Haynes and Grace Linder; grandchildren, Sydney Haynes, Devin and Kaden Boles, Paris Madison, and Morgan Clark; and his brother, Larry Linder and wife Donna.
