John Willis Bertrand

John Willis Bertrand, 78, of Bridge City, died Saturday, October 30, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010, at First Baptist Church Orangefield with Reverend Forrest Wood officiating. Military and Masonic Rites will follow at Mary Williams Cemetery in Orangefield.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orangefield, Texas on June 6, 1932, John was the son of Davis and Agnes Morgan Bertrand. John was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1994, after 37 years, from Nobles Offshore Drilling as a Tool Pusher. He was a member of First Baptist Church Orangefield, Lafayette #87 AF & AM in Patterson, Louisiana, and the American Legion Post 49 in Orange.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dave Bertrand and Bruce Trahan; and sisters, Betty Ann Bendo and Shirley Trahan.

John is survived by his wife, Darla Bertrand of Bridge City; daughters, Leisha Ann Babin of Bayou Vista, Louisiana, Torri Lynn Simoneaux of Denham Springs, Louisiana; son, John Davison Bertrand and wife, Melissa of Spring; daughters, Hollyn Renee Chellette and husband, Mark of Berwick, Louisiana, Christine Adele Eubanks of Bridge City; and son, Fred Allen Hubert and wife, Maria of Brookline, New Hampshire.

He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Hazel Hooper of New Braunfels, Wanda Mae Bergeron and Edna Ruth Vercher both of Orange.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Vercher, David Frank Bergeron, Larry Shoemake, Richard Lacassin, Logan Bertrand, Edward Alvarado, Mark Chellette, and Frank Thibodeaux.
