Bernard E. Jones, 91, of West Orange, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Shelby County on October 11, 1915, to Andrew and Oma Lyles, Mr. Jones had lived in Orange for the past 62 years.
He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works where he was a chemical operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Luease Jones and Nell Smith Jones; sisters, Mavis Jones and Wylma Jones; brother, Melvin Jones; and grandson, Joseph Arrel Hargett.
Mr. Jones is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and James Hargett of Linden, Pam Savoy of Orange, Paula and Don Ferguson of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Nelson and Ann Jones of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Brandi Johnson, Jim Hargett, Jeff Hargett, Courtney Phernetton, Jason Beard; and great grandchildren, Josey Anne Hargett, Jordan Reese Johnson, Ruston Arrel Hargett and Berkley Aiden Phernetton.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Sue, Eric and all caregivers and staff of Odyssey Hospice and to close family and friends for the care given to Mr. Jones.
