Jorge Luis Cortez, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2022, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas with Military Honors taking place at 3:30 p.m.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 15, he was the son of Rumaldo and Carolina Cortez. Jorge was a graduate of Roy Miller High School, after which he joined the United States Army where he actively served for thirteen years. In the Army, he served as a power generator operator and as a motor pool sargeant at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Jorge was a great man and a proud veteran who will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Kristine Cortez of Orange, Texas; his five daughters, Teresa Cortez Cossio of Edinburg, Texas, Sandra Cortez of Edinburg, Texas, Amber Cortez of Orange, Texas, Clarissa Cortez of Orange, Texas, and Beatrice Cortez of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Devon Vela of Edinburg, Texas, Jax Daniel Cossio of Edinburg, Texas, and Bella Elise Thibodeaux of Orange, Texas; siblings, Diana Munoz of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary Guerrero of San Antonio, Texas, Ray Cortez of Corpuc Christi, Texas, Lily Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Amy Salinas of San Antonio, Texas; niece, Becky Cantu of Corpus Christi, Texas; along with numerous other loving friends and family.
