Joseph Caroll “Pete” Brown

Joseph Carol “Pete” Brown of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.

Visitation will be held on October 5, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched many lives with his unwavering faith, work ethic, and boundless love for his family and friends.

Born on June 30, 1937, to William Pate Brown, Jr. and Willie Pearl Thibodeaux Brown, Pete was a dedicated hard worker, exemplifying a strong work ethic throughout his life. In his early life, Pete grew up in the McLewis community off Tulane playing with his friends. As a proud Little Cypress High School graduate, Pete cherished his educational journey, where he played the trombone in the band and was voted most handsome in his senior year. His immense school spirit and passion for life were evident in his treasured friendships and memories from those formative years. He spent much of his adult like working at Levingston Shipbuilding and Firestone Refinery. Pete also travelled abroad with Penn Rod Oil and Drilling, seeing sights from around the world. He eventually left the oil rigs and operated his own bulldozer, clearing land. Pete was deeply rooted in his Christian faith, attending The Pentecostals of Pine Forest Church in Vidor, Texas, which played a significant role in his life. He loved hunting and fishing, which brought him joy and a connection to nature and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Landry Brown; his parents, William Pate Brown, Jr. and Willie Pearl Brown; his son, Michael Brown; his grandson, Christopher Brown; and his sisters, Jennifer Burleigh and Mary Frazier.

His legacy continues through his surviving family: his son, Morris Brown and wife, Dulce; daughters, Carol Brown and Vallie Brown; grandchildren, Felicia and Raymond; great-grandchildren, Braiden and Adrienne; sister, Joan Plsek; brother, William “B.B.” Brown and wife, Kay; and numerous other loving nephews, nieces, friends and family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Frazier, Steven Pickering, Scott Burleigh, Ryan Crowell, Raymond Brown, and Pate Arena. Honorary pallbearer will be Jena Brown.

Pete and I would see one another at so many of our family funerals. He would always greet me with the most loving hug. We had some of the same spinal problems. He was such a loving man.
