Joseph Leonard Hargrave, Jr., 83, of Bridge, City, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Nick Coleman of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in East Texas, on March 26, 1937, he was the son of Joseph Leonard Hargrave, Sr. and Mona Elizabeth (Holland) Hargrave. Joseph proudly served in the Air Force Reserve for eight years. He also worked as an operator for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 33 years. Joseph loved spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He was a handyman who greatly enjoyed working on cars and tinkering with engines. Joseph loved his family dearly. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mona and Joseph L. Hargrave, Sr.; and his siblings, Lee H. Foreman, Jr., Pearlie Mae Morrison, and Callie Marie Forrest.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Annie Grace (Murphy) Hargrave of Bridge City; his children, Rebecca Romero and husband Lee, Joseph “Joey” L. Hargrave, III and wife Ramona, and Clifford Hargrave and wife Sally, all of Bridge City; his grandchildren, Mathew Carter and wife Brittney, Marla McCracken and husband Alex, Alexandra Hargrave, Morgan Sanchez and husband Jeff, and Samantha Hargrave; and great-grandchildren, Chandler Sanchez, Carson Sanchez, Micah Carter, Braylen Wilcox, and Amelia Carter.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Hargrave, Lee Romero, Kent LaFleur, Corey Burns, Mathew Carter, and Ken Swenson.
