Joseph James Gary, 83, of Bridge City, Texas died May 15, 2008.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Joe was a native of Port Arthur, Texas and longtime resident of Bridge City, Texas. He was the son of Monig and Martha Landry Gary of Port Arthur, Texas. Joe was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 2775 in Orange and a Past Post Commander. Joe volunteered many hours at the Golden Triangle Veterans Memorial Park in Port Arthur. Joe retired from Texaco Port Arthur after 34 years.
He was preceded in death by parents, Monig and Martha Gary, and brother Leroy A. Gary.
He is survived by son Rodney Gary of Beaumont, son Jeffery Gary and wife Jana of Vidor, Stuart Gary and wife Carla of Silsbee, grandchildren Jessica Gary of Beaumont, Casey Gary and wife Jennifer of Beaumont, Jason Gary and wife Nancy of Driftwood, Texas, Jennifer Gary Sheldon and husband Rich of Fort Worth, great-grandsons Braden, Landon, and Baby Gary due in August of Driftwood, Texas, longtime friends Terry Bouley and husband Mike.
