Joseph Jo Jo Hatton Hanks, Jr., 62, of Orange, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend David Burkheimer of Community Church in Orange and special speaker will be Richard Hargrave.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Joseph was born on March 29, 1947, in Bridge City, Texas. He was the son of Joseph Hanks, Sr. and Ruth Wagner Hanks. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War and a member of the Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and father and mother-in-law, Rector and Dorothy Edge.
He is survived by his much loved wife of 34 years, Gloria Edge Hanks of Orange; brothers and sisters, Linda Terrell and her husband Billy of Orangefield, Arthur Hanks and his wife Susan of Inman, South Carolina, Keith Hanks and his wife Mary of Orange, Bobby Hanks and his wife Debi of Orange, Ricky J. Hanks and his wife Grace "Sissy" of Orange, and Dianne Edge and her husband Ray of Orange; and his special nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Keith Hanks, Arthur Hanks, Ricky A. Hanks, Michael "Joe" Lopez, Jimmie Redmon, and Aaron Redmon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky J. Hanks, Ray Edge, Bobby Hanks, Arlis Lansford, Richard Hargrave and Joey Wagner.
