Joseph L. "Bud" Chargois, 84, of Orange, Texas died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at The Meadows in Orange.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana with Reverend Jay Thomas officiating with Reverend Billy Hutson assisting. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange and 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Born in Vinton, Louisiana on September 21, 1925, Bud was the son of Joseph Lionel Chargois, Sr. and Beulah White Chargois. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked as a welder for W.R. Grace Chemical. Bud was also a music director for a number of years at First Baptist Church in Vinton, MacArthur Heights Baptist Church in Orange, Calvary Baptist in Church in West Orange, and Starks Baptist Church in Starks, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Olive Barrios Chargois; and sister, Evelyn Alamond.
Bud is survived by his wife, Hope Chargois; daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Curtis Edgar and Susan and Jerry Walker both of Vinton; step-daughters, Sue Sulsar of Cuero, Texas and Beth and Curtis Molder of Weatherford, Texas; and step-sons and wives, Michael and Bobbye Sulsar of Orange, Randy and Julia Sulsar of Lockhart, Texas and Barry Sulsar of Ft. Worth, Texas.
He is also survived by his ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Erline Godwin of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Elodie Croft of Punta Gorda, Florida; and brother, Thomas Riddick of Plaquemine, Louisiana.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Adam Edgar, Andrew Edgar, Christopher Bond, Michael Sulsar, Tom Hare and Lewis Williams.
