I remember grandma being so excited, but also anxious about having everyone over at her house for Thanksgiving every year. Once we got there, she was glad she decided to have it again at her house. This was my favorite holiday of the year getting to see all of the family. This was her day in every way. It was her birthday and everyone gathered at her home to see one another. To bring this large of a group together was a special thing. That is why I am glad to see that she was able to claim this special day again as her day to go home to God. How many others can do this? I have always remembered this day as the day we got together at grandma's for Thanksgiving anyway. Now, it will just be a permanent remembrance and celebration of her life.

When I was very young (maybe 4 or 5 years old), Grandma (Joyce) came to stay with me while my parents were away in Europe. When she saw me brushing my tongue (as instructed by my dentist), and she said "you stop that!" to which I replied "well, I'll just do it when you leave." Since then, and especially so in my adult life, that was our little joke. I'll do it when you leave. I suspect that my hard-headed nature may have come from Grandma, as she was steadfast in her beliefs and habits, no matter what anyone else said. I wish Grandma would have lived to see me succeed in the courtroom before she died, but since she is gone and I am now a newly minted attorney... Grandma, I will just do it when you leave! xoxo
