Joyce Bourgeois Berry, 83, of Orange, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, surrounded by her cousins at the Sabine House in Orange.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Mausoleum in Orange.
Visitation will begin at 12pm, Tuesday at the funeral home with a Rosary recited at 1pm.
Born in Evangeline, Louisiana, on November 13, 1930, Joyce was the daughter of Samuel Bourgeois, Sr. and Fremance (Lacombe) Bourgeois. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper in Jackson, Mississippi and was a member of the Catholic Faith.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents of Crowley, Louisiana; husband of 49 years, Kenneth Ware Berry of Shriners, Mississippi; brother, Samuel Bourgeois, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and sister, Rose Bourgeois Lewing of Many, Louisiana.
She is survived by her nephew, Michael Lynn Bourgeois (Brenda) of Rosenburg; his daughters, Ellen Legros (Jeff) of Lake Charles, Stephanie Harrison (Jeffery) of Baton Rouge; son, Samuel Bourgeois of Alaska; and numerous cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the administration and staff at the Sabine House for allowing Joyce to live there with dignity and die without pain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Soup Kitchen in Orange; ATTN: Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lucia, 912 West Cherry, Orange, Texas 77630.
