Joyce Lavergne Daville, 93, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on October 21, 2023, in Orange, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Father Michael Strother. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Tim Istre.
Born in Lawtell, Louisiana, on December 4, 1929, she was the daughter of Willis Lavergne and Emma Arneaux Lavergne. Joyce was a long time member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and sewing. Most of all, Joyce loved people. She was a wonderful caretaker and cook who was known for feeding the whole neighborhood whenever she could. When she wasn’t preparing meals for her neighbors, she enjoyed stopping in to visit with them and have coffee.
She is preceded in death by parents, Willis and Emma Lavergne; her husband, Edward Daville; her sons, Andrew Daville and Willis Daville; her grandchildren, Deanne Daville and Rudy Goldwire; her son-in-law, Jerry Goldwire; and her siblings, Laura Blanchard, Bernice Duplechain, and Mary Manuel.
She is survived by her children, Gertrude “Trudy” Blanchard and husband, Tray of Mansfield, Louisiana, Romain Goldwire of Mauriceville, Texas, Bert Daville and wife, Doraine of Vinton, Louisiana, and Darlene Brown and husband, Dave of Bridge City, Texas; her grandchildren, Horace Daville and wife, Missy, Jerry Daville and wife, Rebecca, Scott Daville and wife, Christina, Andrew Daville, Mandy McKee, Cynthia Marie Guillot and husband, Glenn, Tray Allen Blanchard, Dana Hernandez and husband, Roger, Allen Mann and wife, Jeannice, Willie Daville, Keaghon Daville and wife, Tiffany, Lisa Daville, Alex Dakota, Denise Daville, Brandi Whittington and husband, Duane, and Krystal Ledet and husband, Eustac; 47 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
