Joyce (Freeman) Savage
Joyce Savage, 86, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 17, 2017, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene in Orange with Reverend Ray McDowell officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Piedmont, Alabama, on February 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Arthur Andrew Freeman and Serena (Dorghty) Freeman. Joyce was a 25 year member of Orange Chapter No. 214 OES, as well as being a member of Ramallah Temple No. 89 Daughters of the Nile, and First Church of the Nazarene. She was a part of the Southeast Texas Veterans Group and played the taps at over 500 funerals. She enjoyed shopping and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandson Henry. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Andrew and Serena Freeman; and her loving husband of 53 years, Billy Savage.
Joyce is survived by her children, Chris Savage and wife Greta, of Greensburg, PA and Rita Ballard and husband Scott, of Orange, TX; along with her grandson, Henry Savage.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bell, Charles Johnson, James Fouts, Jimmy Francis, Larry Winder, and Oliver Barnum. Honorary pallbearers will be the Southeast Texas Veterans Group.
