Juanita Mae Nugent, 79, of Orangefield, Texas, passed away on December 3, 2017, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Ed Rawls with Silveroaks Baptist Church in Mauriceville, Texas. Burial will follow the service at Autumn Oaks Cemetery in Orange. A dinner will be provided for family and friends after the service at Silveroaks Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Springfield, Tennessee, on November 23, 1938, she was the daughter of Arthur Price Cook and Ina Mae Orand Covington. Juanita graduated in 1957 from Orangefield High School and started volunteering at the school in 1984. She started working for Orangefield ISD in 1988 and worked there until her passing. She loved her church family at Silveroaks Baptist and enjoyed spending time with people. Juanita loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur Cook and Ina Mae Covington; and her sister, Cathy Cook.
Juanita is survived by her sons, Daniel Nugent, of Orangefield and Robert Nugent, of Lumberton; grandchildren, Shae Logan Nugent and Madison Victoria Nugent; siblings, Jerry Fay Daugette, of Orange, Gaynell Murrell and husband Ken, of Fort Worth, and Bruce Covington and wife Kelly, of Bridge City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Elmer Lee Ernst, Brenden Cowart, Coby Covington, Kyle Murrell, Dawl Cooper, and Bruce Hendricks. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Arceneaux and Ken Murrell.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Orangefield High School Project Graduation in Juanita’s name.
