Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 7, 1982, she was the 5th of 8 children of Andrew Carl Wingate and Sheila Marie Starr Wingate. Julianna grew up in Bridge City attending St. Henry Catholic Church with her family. Julianna absolutely adored her daughter, Kerista, more than anything.
In school, she enjoyed running track, and being a Girl Scout. Julianna loved to cook and bake, and always made a batch of cupcakes for the birthdays of her family and friends. She enjoyed watching football (especially the Pittsburg Steelers), going to sporting events, Judge Judy, shopping, and creating art; especially her oil paintings. Julianna was close to her family, and loved supporting her nieces and nephews, and cousins in their school activities and their accomplishments. Julianna was surrounded by family and was holding her oldest brother's hand when she passed. She was truly loved, and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil F. Wingate and Dorothea June Woodside Wingate, Howell “Jeff” J. Starr and Videra “Pat” Luallen Starr.
She is survived by parents, Andrew and Sheila Wingate; daughter, Kerista Buysse of Minnesota; siblings, Jon-Paul Wingate, Cynthia Wingate Montalvo, Janelle Wingate Buchannan, Max Wingate, Peter Clayton Wingate, Rebecca Wingate Barclay, and Michael Wingate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jon-Paul Wingate, Max Wingate, Peter Clayton Wingate, Michael Wingate, Isaac Montalvo, Brett Barclay, Marc Wernig, and Miguel Vela. Honorary pallbearers are Peter Wingate, Jeff Vandevender, and Matthew Dourion.
The Wingate family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Lavalais and all the staff at Harbor Hospice in room 24, for their attentiveness and loving care of Julianna.
In lieu of flowers, people can make a donation in Julianna Wingate’s name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
