Julius Benton, 85, of Bridge City, Texas passed away, March 11, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.
Julius was born in Ochlocknee, Georgia on October 11, 1922. Julius served in WW II in the U.S. Army from 1940-1944 as a tank commander in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart, African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and American Defense Service Ribbon amongst several other ribbons. He was an electrician for DuPont in Orange after 32 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Benton.
Surviving Julius is his beloved wife Rosalie Placette Benton, son Ken Benton & wife Deen of Manvel, daughters, Janis Adkins of Greenville, Julie Sims & husband Jerry of Mauriceville and Jennifer Peloquin of Maryland.
Also surviving him are 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great-grandchildren and brother, Gene Benton & wife Mickey of Lufkin.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
A Mass will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 16 at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited beginning at 7:00 p.m.
