Junior D. Johnson

Junior D. Johnson, 85, of Bedias, formally of Orange for 55 years, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Services will be performed by the Masonic Lodge 1345. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Born in Oakdale, Louisiana on April 4, 1925, Junior was the son of Joseph Delmar Johnson and Dortchy Mae Davis. Junior was a WWII Veteran in the Marine Seabees and was employed by DuPont for 33 years. He was a member of the Bridge City Lodge 1345, A.F. & A.M., past monarch of Ibis Organization, York Rite Commander in Port Arthur, Scottish Rite 32 degree in Galveston and EL Mina Shrine Temple. He was also an inactive member of Arab Patrol of Beaumont, Kart Patrol, Oriental Band and active member of El Mina Cycle Patrol serving as president in 1975 and 1982.

Junior was a member of the organization Shrine Club in Beaumont, Port Arthur, Mid Jefferson, Silsbee and East Texas. He also was an associate member of Habibi Temple in Lake Charles and organization post 2775 – VF.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Warren Butch Johnson; daughter, Peggy King; grandson, Jay Johnson; and his beloved maw-in-law, Oma Clark.

Junior is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jewel Johnson; daughter, Jodel Pickett and her husband, Jerry; special daughters, Cherry Dauterive and her husband, Keith and Pat Sisk; and son-in-law, Rick King and his wife, Lynn.

He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses, René and Todd Moak, Dana and Karl Van Der Stucken, Wendy and Joe Becerra, Gary Pickett, Lacey and Dr. Tony Hernandez, Jennifer and Lacy Ramirez, Nikki Johnson and Simon Wyble; nine great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Todd Moak, Joe Becerra, Gary Pickett, Dr. Tony Hernandez, Lacy Ramirez and Simon Wyble. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Oriental Band and Kart Patrol.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803 or the Shrine Transportation Corp in Galveston.
