Obituary
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Orange First Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Pastor Brad McKenzie. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Orange First Church of the Nazarene.
Born in Orange, Texas, on September 1, 1952, she was the daughter of John O. Hallberg and Vivian Belle (McKnight) Hallberg. Karen was a faithful member of the Orange First Church of the Nazarene. She worked as a teacher for many years, spending five years at Community Christian School of Orange and over 30 years at Orangefield ISD. Karen also spent time working as an educator at Shangri La Botanical Gardens. She enjoyed reading, sewing quilts and clothes, and attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Karen was a proud mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian Hallberg; and her brother, John E. Hallberg.
She is survived by her children, Windee Jenkins and husband Chad of Mauriceville, Clint Dryden and wife Stacie of Orange, and Lance Mendoza and wife Tara of Bridge City; her grandchildren, Tanner Jenkins and fiancé Madi Barrow, Tyler Jenkins, Trever Jenkins, Addyson Dryden, Kinsey Dryden, Colt Dryden, Watson Mendoza, and Wren Mendoza; her sister, Andrea Prouse of Orange; her niece, Regina Krampe and husband Richard of Helotes; and her great-nieces and nephews, Carson Krampe, Cade Krampe, and Emma Krampe, all of Helotes.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Dryden, Lance Mendoza, Tanner Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Trever Jenkins, and Colt Dryden. Honorary pallbearer is Watson Mendoza.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation 1702 East Highland Avenue, Suite 400, Phoenix, Arizona 85016, or Shangri La Botanical Gardens, 2111 W. Park Avenue, Orange, Texas 77630.
