Kay Annette Lynd, 68, died peacefully, with blessed assurance, on Monday, February 23, 2015. Born on September 30, 1946, to her beloved parents Mary Catherine (Verble) Dillard and Bob Dillard, she was a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas. She was a 1965 graduate of South Park High School. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Bernard Lynd, and they spent 48 years together in happiness, laughter, and love.
Kay-Kay, as she loved to be called, exuded light, love, and joy. Her effervescence was irresistible! She never had a harsh word for anyone, and a bright smile was her calling-card. She loved her family, her friends...everyone; she showered all whom she met with the love of Jesus. She found delight in the sunshine, in bird song, and in the flowers of the field, and so she planted bulbs and seeds, at home and at church, sharing beauty and joy along the way. She sang, lifting her beautiful voice in hymn and song for her family, her church flock, and anyone in earshot of her lilting melodies as she walked down the street or worked in her gardens.
Kay-Kay demonstrated love and faith through service, caring tirelessly for her family, friends, and all others with a gentle, giving heart. She gave generously of her time at church and especially loved caring for children. She exemplified the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31, who, in verse 13, “seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.” She loved the crafts of knitting and embroidery, and through many happy, dedicated hours, she blessed newlyweds and newborns alike with gifts of colorful linens, created lovingly by her determined, yet patient, hands. She loved art and dance, particularly ballet, and it was a joy to see her enjoy the beauty in those things.
Kay is survived by her loving sweetheart, Bernard, of Beaumont, Texas; her daughter Debra Pearson, her husband Jarrod, and grandchildren Stella, Chloe, Otto, and Vera, all of Weatherford, Texas; her son Steve Lynd, his wife Marcie, and grandchildren Orion, Lucas, and Kharissa, all of Beaumont, Texas; her dear brother Scott Dillard, his wife Lue, of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Nancy Dillard of McAllen, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, relations, and friends, all of whom loved her sweet demeanor and will cherish joyful memories of her.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Bob Dillard and Mary Catherine Dillard, and her brother Doug Dillard.
A gathering of Kay's family and friends will be held at Claybar Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home, 1155 North Eleventh Street, in Beaumont, Texas, on Friday, February 27, 2015, beginning at 11:00 am with services to follow at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
In lieu of donations or memorial contributions, please share something beautiful with the world – a song, a blossom, or a great big smile – in honor of dear Kay-Kay.
