Kelly Desiree Moore

Kelly Desiree Trahan Moore, 49, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on June 30, 2025, at Jennie Sealy Hospital at UTMB Galveston.

Born in Orange, Texas, on January 17, 1976, she was the daughter of Steve Trahan and Donna Gann Trahan Van der Stucken. She was a devoted Assistant City Secretary for the City of Port Arthur, where her warm spirit and dedication made a lasting impact on her community. Kelly was known for her sweet nature and her infectious laugh that could turn a gloomy day into one filled with joy. Her smile had a unique ability to light up a room she entered, and her big personality drew people to her. She was once even noticed in a crowd and invited to the gym floor by the Harlem Globetrotters. She brought happiness to everyone around her. In her free time, Kelly had many passions: beach time, especially Crystal Beach; dancing, her years of dance at Lorna Badon’s studio which included a rememberable Badon Dance Tour to Russia; music and dancing with the beat for fun, and of course football, watching her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Additionally, she had a deep affection for her dogs and cat, who were cherished companions in her life. Being outdoors brought her great joy and she had a particular fondness for crawfish, which she enjoyed more than any other food. Kelly's legacy of love and joy will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Father, Steve Trahan; Mother, Donna Van der Stucken; and her Nana (Grandmother) Catherine Trahan.

She is survived by her sister, Destine Trahan and son, Peyton; her brother, Austin Van der Stucken and wife Krystal; aunt and uncle, Cindy Trahan Womack and Bruce Womack; cousins, Ryan Womack and Jared Womack; stepfather, Rick Van der Stucken and his wife, Judy Van der Stucken; her former husband David Moore, whom she had reconnected with and was caring for her until her death; her dogs, Dexter and Cici; cat, Tiki.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, with a Celebration of Life being held at The Garden District on Sunday, July 20, from 12:00—2:00.

Condolences

It’s so sad how quickly life can pass us by when we aren’t looking. Everyone is so “busy”… Make sure that, if the Lord puts someone on your heart, you check in with them. I have so many sweet text messages but the last one did not receive a reply.❤️‍🩹 I don’t generally share this type of thing but she is not hurting anymore!! Hallelujah!! 💖 She is in the arms of Jesus where there will be no more tears, fears or pain! She has finally been reunited with her Mom and Dad. Lonely does not exist any longer! 👨‍👩‍👧 💚💛Kelly was more than a 1994 LCM classmate. She was my childhood next door neighbor. She was my lifelong friend. We always picked up where we left off. We were “those friends”. She was my crawfish dance partner. She was my broken-pinky-toe lake camp partner. She was way more than the perfect salon client for many years. Kelly Desiree Trahan and I always will have special memories and salon secrets to hold! We are #OurTherapy 💙🩶💙🩶 #GoCowboys #CrawfishDancingQueens🏆

I’m still always finding beautiful memories we shared together. It’s easier to say “see you again later” than to ever say “goodbye” Mēssey (Me-see) Michelle Richard Haydel Medeiros

For Kelly in memory and in light There are people who pass through this world like falling stars— brief, brilliant, and impossible to forget. Kelly was one of them. A quiet kind of fierce. A laughter that lingered. A heart that held more than it ever let on. She gave comfort in small, unspoken ways— a knowing glance, a sudden joke, the way she could sit beside silence and make it feel like love. She wasn’t just here. She shaped here. With her presence. Her patience. Her spark. Now the world is quieter without her, but also fuller— with memories, with echoes, with the way she changed us just by being exactly who she was. We carry her in moments. In music. In kindness. In the light that slips through the trees just like her—soft, and golden, and gone too soon. But never, ever forgotten.

I have a lifetime of memories with you so it’s impossible to pick just one. I will forever be grateful that god picked me to be your little sister and I know you will continue to guide me on my path until we get to dance together again. I love you more than words can express ❤️
I LOVE YOU ALWAYS STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE July 9, 2025
Berry Sweet Forever You and Kelly—two halves of the same giggle. Curled up on the floor, eyes wide, hearts open, Watching Strawberry Shortcake save the day With sugar and sparkles and just enough sass. You both believed in magic, In berry-best friends, In the kind of love that smells like cake batter and crayons. Even when the world got bigger, And cartoons gave way to chaos, You two never stopped believing in each other. Never stopped laughing. Never stopped loving. I remember the songs— Silly, sweet, stuck in our heads for days. And I remember how you sang them like they meant something real. Because for you, they did. Now Kelly’s gone ahead— Maybe off to Strawberryland without us. But I know she saved you a seat. I know she’s holding your hand, Just like before. And when I close my eyes, I can still hear you both, Singing in perfect harmony, Reminding me: Love that pure doesn’t fade. It just waits.

This doesn’t seem real- I don’t believe it ever will. I will miss you so much. I will hold dear the memories of you- especially the most recently when I saw you while I was passing through town; we hadn’t seen each other in quite some time & the bond/connection we instantly had was something beautiful. I will miss you so much, my beautiful cousin. I love you. xo
