Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Childress, Sr.
Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Childress, Sr., 61, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 9, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 5, 1962, he was the son of Jerry Childress and Alita Childress. Kenny was a man of many talents and passions. He was known for his love of playing the guitar and had a room full of instruments. Kenny could often be found in one of his shops, deeply engrossed in woodworking projects. One of Kenny's pastimes was tending to his yard and garden. He also cherished the role of being "Grandpa" to his grandchild, finding joy and fulfillment in spending time with the little one. A man with a great sense of humor, Kenny was always cracking jokes and playing small pranks on everyone around him. He was a father figure to everyone around him and took responsibility for the wellbeing of all his family. His lively spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Alita Childress; brothers, Phillip Childress and Wayne Childress; grandparents, Bridget Estelle Landry and Jake Landry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cynthia Childress; daughter, Sarah Cooper and husband, Lee; son, Kenneth Childress, Jr.; grandson, Henry Cooper; siblings, Bridget Van Etten and husband, David, and Jake Childress and wife, Maria; half-siblings, Timothy Childress, Theresa Yourkovich, and Gary Childress; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
