Kermit Jarreau, 62, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2019, at his home in Vidor.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Dorman Cemetery on Tulane Road in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor Jimmy Ponton, of Church of God of Prophecy.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on August 13, 1957, he was the son of Joseph Harrison Jarreau and Frankie (Fowler) Jarreau. Kermit worked as a heavy equipment operator and foreman for Soloco/Newpark for many years before retiring. He loved going to Sam Rayburn and Pleasure Island. Kermit enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and playing cards and dominoes. He adored his family and loved to spend time with them. Kermit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jarreau; and his sister, Cynthia Jarreau.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Phyllis Jarreau; his mother, Frankie Jarreau; his children, Terra K. Simmons and husband Michael of Fort Worth, Amber Dunmon and husband Michael of Orange, Joseph H. Jarreau and wife Tammy of Mauriceville, and Cynthia Jarreau and Matt Cain of Orange; his siblings, Sharon Calhoun and husband Marlon of Merryville, Louisiana, Charlie Jarreau and wife Carolyn of Orange, Kathy Clawson and husband Kirby of Mauriceville, and Patricia McKinley and fiancé Randy Clawson; and his 10 grandchildren, Michaela, Devin, Alora, Victoria, Larry, Jr., Giovanni, Elijah, Kaitlynn, Krystal, and Alek.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Dunmon, Joseph Jarreau, Michael Simmons, Devin Dunmon, Ricky Ambrose, and Matt Cain.
