Kyle Johnson Cooper, 84, of Vidor, Texas, entered into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ and Savior on March 5, 2025, at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Sulphur, Louisiana, on September 22, 1940, he was the son of Doc Frank Cooper and Ruth Cooper Bishop. Kyle was a longtime supervisor at Levingston Shipbuilding in Orange then went on to work at Todd Shipyard in Galveston and Signal International in Port Arthur before retiring.
Despite his dedication to his craft, the two most important things in his life were his Christian faith and providing for his family. Kyle was a devoted follower of Christ, and faithful servant of the Lord. He helped build 12th Street Baptist Church in Orange and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. He found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life.
Kyle is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lois Honeycutt Cooper, who he married April 19, 1963, and their two sons – Kerry Cooper and Chad Cooper; grandson Kasey Cooper; and sisters Waldean Garrett and Carol Hamilton.
He is preceded in death by his parents Doc Cooper and Ruth Bishop; brother Garney Cooper and sister Frankie Abshire.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
