Larry Gene Bush
Larry Gene Bush, 85, of Orange, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 14, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 2 pm to 3 pm at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.
Born in Groves, Texas, on November 6, 1937, he was the son of Joseph Achille Bush and Ruby Bert Hunt Bush O’Quin. After finishing school at Port Neches-Groves High School, Larry served as a medic in the Air Force. He then married and moved his family to Bridge City, Texas, and went to work for Firestone Tire & Rubber in Orange, Texas. He loved duck hunting with his two sons and enjoyed spending weekends at the family camp house in Burkeville, Texas. In his spare time, he ran Bush’s Radiator Service out of his home. He married Betty, whom he loved dearly, in 1980. Together, they created a wonderful life and were members of First Baptist Church of Orange. They built a farm in Mauriceville, Texas and raised Beefmaster cows. Larry went on to work for and retire from Mobile in Beaumont, Texas. Another favorite pastime was building a racecar with his son and son-in-law, which brought the family many trophies and fun times. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and youngest son, Joseph Eugene “Joe” Bush.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife, Betty LaRue Crow Bush; his son, Steve Bush; his daughter, Terry Bush DeCuir and husband Keith; his step-son, John Covey and wife Mary Anne; step-daughter, Beth Covey Gathright and husband Paul; his grandchildren, Tony Gillis; Christina Bush Ruiz and husband Chris, Christopher Bush, Melissa Bush Johnson and husband Devon, Haleigh Bush Choate and husband Colton; his step-grandchildren, Jane Covey, Ellen Covey, Joshua Gathright, Jamie Gathright and Jesse Gathright; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Ruiz and wife Preslie, Hunter Ruiz, Reagan Armstrong, Ryan Ford, and Benjamin Choate.
