Larry Lee Casey

October 29, 1942 — April 5, 2025

Larry Lee Casey was born on October 29, 1942, in Orange, Texas, to Edward Durwood Casey and Suewillow (Wilkinson) Casey. He was raised in Tenaha, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1961. After graduation, he attended Panola College in Carthage, Texas. Larry proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood.

In 1969, he met the love of his life, Sandra Mitchell, and the two were married on September 5 of that same year. Together, they built a beautiful life in Orange, Texas, where Larry worked for DuPont for 36 years before retiring in 2002.

Larry had a passion for the simple joys in life—he loved camping and traveling in his RV, cheering on college football, and mowing his yard. But above all, his greatest joy came from his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren lit up his world. His face would shine with pride when he shared stories of their lives and accomplishments.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Suewillow Casey; his brother, Edward Durwood Casey Jr; his sister-in-law, Billie Jean Casey; his nephew, Don Casey; mother-in-law, Mayme Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hughes.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sandra, and their children: Maggie Briscoe (Guy) of Turkey Creek, Louisiana; James Casey (Kayla) of Kerrville, Texas; Richard Casey of Orange, Texas; and Lisa Casey of Norman, Oklahoma.

Larry’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Heather LaFleur (Bryan), Josh Briscoe (Casey), James Ryan Casey (Whitney), Blake Casey (Shelbi), Zachary Casey, Alissa Volcik, and Colby Volcik; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Brenda Boozer, Phyllis Casey, Audra Prejean (Lonnie), Troy Bickham, Charles Bickham (JoAnn), and MaLiwan from Thailand as well as many dear friends and extended family who will miss him deeply.

Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Bleakwood Cemetery Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. under the arrangement of Claybar Funeral home.
