Larry M. Granger, 73, of Orange, passed away on October 13, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Jessie Wright. Burial will follow at Granger Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 1, 1944, he was the son of William Willard Granger and Myrtle Marie (Broomes) Granger. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After the war, he worked for Pipefitter Local 195, and Insulator Local 112, after which, he became full time at the Orange County Sherriff’s Department. He worked for the Orange County Sherriff’s Department as a deputy for over 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the CRAC Unit for Orange County. Larry knew many people through all walks of life. Wherever he went, whether it was on vacation or just stopping at a gas station, he knew someone. He made friends everywhere he went. He was a straight shooter and avid outdoorsman. He was an amazing self-taught left-handed guitar player, and loved to sing. He loved bluegrass, country, and gospel music. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Francis; and brother, Raymie Granger.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Granger of Vidor, TX; children, Lori Granger and boyfriend, David Sonnier, of Lumberton, TX, Joshua Granger and fiance, Alisha, of Lumberton, TX, and Kristlyn Granger-Jones and wife, Jessica, of Orange, TX; grandchildren, Blake Laughlin, Jacob Clark, and Cohen Granger; one great-grandson, Greyson Laughlin; brother, Dale Dewey; and numerous step and half siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Granger, Blake Laughlin, Jacob Clark, Terry Manuel, Tim Wolfford, Will Winfree, Kenneth Noble, and Albert Marks.
