After high school, Gene, as most knew him, attended Southwestern College. He joined the United States Air Force and then became a carpenter and contractor until he retired. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Gene met his loving wife Thanksgiving Eve 1958. He and Judy Deslatte Landry danced the night away and were married October 18, 1959. She has been by his side for the last 64years. Together they built a beautiful life filled with many blessings and a great legacy.

Gene loved his wife and his family. He enjoyed his Friday night meals with Judy, and family gatherings. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan. Those left to continue his legacy are his wife Judy and their five children; Laura Sparks (Don) of Starks, La, Lynne Theriot (Tony) of Orange, TX, Lois Forsyth (Barry) of Orange, TX, Linda Wade (Tommy) of Orange, TX and Larry Gene Landry II (Jennifer) of Keller, TX; his brother Gabriel Landry, Jr. (Kathy) of Broussard, La and sister Diane Landry Foote (Ken) of San Diego, CA. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

The Landry family would like to extend a special thank you to Best Hospice and Gene’s nurses, Tiffany, Lailani, and Angela, for all the care they provided not only to him but to their entire family.

I knew of Gene and his family more than actually knee them all those years at St. Mary, but always recognized the love that bound them all together. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to the entire family as you grieve his passing and share memories of your lives together.
