Laurie Miller, Jr., 79, of Orange, passed away on December 15, 2020 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Joseph P. Daleo. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, with a rosary starting at 6:30 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Laurie honorably served in the United States Army and was also in the Army Corps of Engineers. He later went on to work and retire from Livingston Shipyard. Laurie was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary Catholic Church for many years. He was the life of the party always being a jokester and making people laugh. Laurie was a member of the VA Vietnam Veterans group in Orange as well as RCIA in Catholic Faith.
Born in Arnaudville, Louisiana, on May 22, 1941, he was the son of Laurie Miller, Sr. and Bertha (Dekerlagand) Miller.
He was preceded in death by parents, Laurie and Bertha Miller; loving wife, Peggy Miller; siblings, Lucius Miller, Louis Miller, and Ella Mae Blanchard.
He is survived by his son Rodney Miller of Orange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Dronet, Joseph Marjolet, Gavin Scott, Megan Marjolet, Rebekah Comeaux, and Chris Woodall. Honorary pallbearer is Chrystyan Roy Maccabee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
