LaVerne Shanklin DePugh

Funeral services for LaVerne Shanklin DePugh, 100, of Wildwood will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wildwood/Village Mills United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Interment will be Saturday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, IN. Visitation in Indiana will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. DePugh was born Sept. 21, 1909 in Terre Haute, IN and passed away April 1, 2010 in Woodville, TX. In 1931, she received a BA degree in Music from Indiana University and received her teaching certificate from Indiana State Teachers College. She was a longtime resident of Beaumont and moved to Wildwood in 1976 where she was a member of the Wildwood/Village Mills United Methodist Church. Mrs. DePugh taught music for 30 years and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Kappa sororities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl John DePugh and brother, Jack L. Shanklin. She is survived by one brother, Robert L. Shanklin; Bob Raines considered as a son; nephews, Vernon Shanklin and wife, Linda, Richard Shanklin and wife, Sharon, Christopher Shanklin, Steven Shanklin; nieces, Paulette Graevens and Judy Voorhies, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, friends may direct memorial contributions to the Wildwood/Village Mills United Methodist Church, PO Box 332, Village Mills, TX 77663.
