Born on September 11, 1950, in Orange, Texas, Leah’s journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and a commitment to her community. A gifted teacher, Leah inspired countless students during her career teaching economics at Bridge City. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom when she founded the Bridge City Strutters, fostering a sense of community through teamwork and performance. Leah's impact on her students and her unwavering support for their growth and development reflected her deep love for teaching and mentoring.

As a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bridge City, Leah found solace and joy in her church home. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she embraced her community with open arms, finding friends and fellowship that enriched her life deeply. Leah cherished every moment spent within the walls of her church, where she formed bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Leah had a zest for life that shone brightly in her interests and hobbies. She delighted in playing cards and traveling with a circle of special friends and loved ones. Her laughter and warmth filled every gathering, creating memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate to know her.

Above all, Leah was proud of her family. Her greatest accomplishment was her two sons, Eric Johansson and his wife Erin, and Ryan Johansson. Leah was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Preston, Reagan, Aiden, Lauren, and Layla, and a doting great-grandmother to Brailynn and Caydin. The love she held for her family was evident in every facet of her life.

Leah is reunited in peace with her late husband, Charles "Butch" Johansson, and her devoted parents Clell and Christine Long.

Leah Rea Johansson will forever be remembered as a beacon of kindness and strength. Her life was a testament to the power of love, education, and faith, and she leaves behind a remarkable legacy that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

So many memories at First Christian Church in Orange and beyond. I was in her wedding to Butch and we were pregnant at the same time, me with my first child and Leah with her second. The Long family was always very good to me and my mother and step dad Lou and Bobby Parker. I am sitting here swarmed with good memories as I type this message. My love and prayers are with your family. Maureen Noguess Star.
