Lee H. Brister

Lee H. Brister, 87, born October 22, 1923, in Pitkin, LA to Luke P. Brister and Pearl James Brister, passed away on November 14, 2010, in Orange, Texas.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Starks, LA. In the days prior to his passing he had expressed his desire to family that his suffering will be over and to depart and be with the Lord. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that he is now at home with the Savior he loved and served.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents; and his adored wife of 60 years, Ertha Lea Brister.

Lee joined the U.S. Army on July 23, 1943, and served in Europe during WWII. After being discharged in November of 1946, Lee returned home and married the love of his life.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Veronica Swain and husband, William Ivan of Lacassine, LA, Wallace P. Brister of Baytown, TX, and Janice Lea Enloe and husband, Keith of Orange, TX.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, William I. Swain, Jr. of Starks, LA, Heather Lea Chapman of Orange, TX, Leon Seth Swain of Lacassine, LA, and Regina Marie Swain of Lacassine, LA; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Everett Brister and wife, Lou of DeRidder, LA, Billy Brister and wife, Mary of DeRidder, LA; sister, Reba Fay Collins and husband, Ray of Minven, NV; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the people and organization that made the last few weeks of his life comfortable: sitters, Judy Smith and Julie McDaniels and the many women and nurses of Southeast Texas Hospice. Their care and compassion are beyond compare.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Marlow Baptist Church in Pitkin, LA. Burial will follow at Marlow Cemetery in Pitkin, LA.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
