Leigh Ann Coffin, 58, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, Texas after a lengthy illness. She was born September 3, 1957 to Frank C. Coffin and Ruby Battle Coffin in Orange, Texas.
Leigh attended Lufkin State School for many years until she returned home to live with her brother, Frank C. Coffin, Jr. Later she chose to live in a Spindletop group home where she made many friends and acquaintances. She loved country music and considered herself a songwriter. She loved to stay busy and could be found copying material from all sorts of books, crocheting, and making latch hook rugs. Leigh was an amazing dancer that had rhythm that most people found incredible. One of her favorite activities was going out to eat.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruby Coffin of Orange, Texas. She is survived by her brother, Frank C. Coffin, Jr. and his wife, Cary Church Coffin, of Beaumont, Texas; nephews Frank C. Coffin, III and his wife, Brandi Phelan Coffin, of Beaumont, Texas and Michael J. Coffin and his wife, Miranda Torres Coffin, of Corpus Christi, Texas; niece, Sarah Coffin Fisher and her husband, Darrell Fisher, of Beaumont, Texas; great-nephew Benjamin Joseph Fisher; great-nieces, Sarah Elizabeth Fisher, Madeline Reynee Fisher, Ava Marie Coffin and Mary Margo Coffin.
For over twenty years Leigh received services from Spindletop Center. She made many friends and thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activities, dances, and other social events sponsored by the center. We would like to thank the staff at Spindletop Center as well as the ladies at Russell House for their efforts to improve Leigh’s quality of life. Also, Dr. Caesar Deiparine, Dr. Robert Birdwell, and Dr. Leldon Sweet did a wonderful job with her healthcare.
A gathering of Leigh’s family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home, 1155 N. 11th St. in Beaumont, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Ave. in Beaumont, Texas on Thursday, February, 25 at 10:00 a.m. Her internment will follow at Claybar Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4560 Highway 87 S, Orange, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ARC of Greater Beaumont, 700 North St, Beaumont, TX 77701, where you will positively impact may people’s lives.
