Lennie Paul Dauphine passed away on June 18, 2009, at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 21, 1940, in Port Arthur, Texas. He graduated from Bishop Bryne High School and then received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Government and History from Lamar University in 1965. He later received his Master of Education Degree in Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1969. Lennie began his teaching career in 1964 at Bishop Bryne High School and then completed thirty-three years at West Orange-Cove CISD, retiring in 1998. He taught History and Government until he became Assistant Principal. Lennie was the sponsor of many organizations including the Student Government Association. As a sponsor of the Student Government, he focused on students becoming leaders and successful adults. He always had an "open-door" policy and everyone was welcomed in his home.
His brother Gerald Dauphine and parents Yola and Evan Dauphine preceded him in death.
He is survived by two loving sisters, Donna Allen and Nancy Schroeder; and one sister-in-law, Louise Dauphine. Also two brothers, Chester Dauphine and his wife Elsie and Allen Dauphine and his wife Martha Dell. Lennie had one surrogate son, Sammy Hall and his wife Kathryn. He is also survived by three surrogate grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Baylie Hall and Cody Benge; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm Sunday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday at 10:00 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Internment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be his nephews, Nathan Allen, Jacob Allen, Wayne Schroeder, Damian Dauphine, Terry Dauphine and Caleb Jones, and close friends, Russell Melancon and Shon Hodgkinson.
