Lillian H. Mercer

Lillian H. Mercer, 83, of Bridge City, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a long and happy life.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Reverend David Green of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bridge City will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Lillian was born April 16, 1924, Sulphur, LA, the daughter of Minos and Eltha Hoffpauir of Sulphur.
She lived in Groves with her late husband, Gerald "Dub" W. Mercer for 30 years, retired to Toledo Bend for 15 years and moved back to Bridge City in 2000, where she lived with her son and family.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Minos and Eltha Hoffpauir of Sulphur, LA; brother, Shirley Hoffpauir of Buna; brother, Everett Hoffpauir of Sulphur, LA; sister, Druis Perry of Sulphur, LA; and sister Barbara Terrell of Humble.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Sandi and husband Roger Mead of Milton, FL; and son Jerry and wife Kathy Mercer of Bridge City.
Also surviving is her brother in law, Dan R. Terrell of Humble; sisters in law, Ottie Hoffpauir of Buna and Florence Hoffpauir of Sulphur, LA; four granddaughters, Angie Mercer of Bridge City, Melanie Mercer Smith of Nacogdoches, Tami Mead Jackson and Jessica Mead of Pensacola, FL; great grandson, J. C. Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Jackson, Jeff Goins, Jason Mayfield, Rick Vacante, David Smith and James Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Priddy and Ray Williams.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Qamar Arfeen and the compassionate, professional staff at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont for their comforting care.
