Linda Sue Friend

May 21, 1945 — April 15, 2024

Linda Sue Friend, 78, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on April 15, 2024, at Vidor Health and Rehab Center in Vidor, Texas.

Born in Corsicana, Texas, on May 21, 1945, she was the daughter of Alton Everitt Deskin and Louise Calkins Deskin. Linda enjoyed a long career with Walmart, allowing her to meet and befriend many, which she eventually retired from. She found immense pride and happiness in visiting with her grandchildren, creating priceless memories watching them play their guitars and attending their concerts. Linda’s other great joy was found in dancing; she would light up the room with her graceful movements and infectious energy whenever the music played. In celebrating Linda's life, we remember not only the big moments that defined her but also the small gestures of kindness, love, and the happiness she radiated that made her truly special. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Friend; her parents, Alton and Louise Deskin; and her brother, R.L. Deskin, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Abshire, Rebecca Abshire, and Holly Friend DeRouin; her son, Ronald Friend and wife, Michelle; her grandchildren, Colby Wilson, Casey Wilson, Christina Peveto, Nolan Friend, Kierstyn Friend, Tony Ramos, Delmi Roy, Joshua DeRouin, Eric Pastrana, and Sergio Romero; 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
