Linda Joan Vassar, 79, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on July 1, 2017, at her home in Vinton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Gerald Rodrigue. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will precede the service, starting at 1:00 PM.

Born in Louann, Arkansas, on February 10, 1938, she was the daughter of Roelaux W. Black and Erma Lee (West) Black. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Edward Vassar; son-in-law, Frank Hantz; and brother, Samuel Perry.

She is survived by her two daughters, Delores Ann Bertrand and husband, Cho, of Orangefield, TX, and Patricia Ann Hantz of Vinton, LA; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Roelaux D. “Blackie” Black and wife, Peggy, of Alabama.
